WHO WE ARE
Teachers, parents, healthcare workers, and public servants who believe
Cranston deserves a Democratic party that does more to lead our city in a better direction.
Why We’re Running
The New Cranston Democrats are a group of residents running for the Cranston Democratic City Committee this September to build a party that actually works for the people of Cranston. We’ve been showing up — to City Council meetings, school budget hearings, and community forums — because we believe Cranston deserves better.
We’re offering a new vision: one that responsibly manages our tax dollars, invests in schools and senior services, beautifies our neighborhoods, and holds our leaders accountable — not through lip service, but through direct action and good information shared openly with the public.
The Stakes
The current city leadership created a budget crisis that produced a $10 million deficit, then proposed fixing it by defunding the senior center, slashing school funding, and imposing a massive tax increase on residents. Basic deadlines were missed, forcing the public to rush through a poorly planned budget. These aren’t isolated mistakes — they reflect a pattern of cronyism and mismanagement that has defined Cranston’s government for too long.
And where has the Cranston Democratic Party been through all of this? Nowhere. The current City Committee is invisible to the public, does nothing to support or hold accountable the officials who carry its name, and seems far more interested in maintaining insider access than advocating for residents. That has to change.
What We Believe
Advocate for Residents
A local party should be the voice of its community — pushing for responsible budgets, quality schools, and senior services that residents depend on.
Offer a Real Vision
Cranston needs a consistent, public vision for its future — not insider politics and empty titles. We’ll put that vision on the table and fight for it.
Hold Leaders Accountable
Elected officials who carry the Democratic name should be supported when they deliver and challenged when they don’t. Silence is not leadership.
Transparent & Democratic
Every member gets a voice. Meetings are open. Decisions are shared. The party belongs to the people of Cranston, not a handful of insiders.
